It seems like yesterday I was reminding my fellow Americans, about the symbolism of Lady Liberty and hypocrisy of America to still have such a beautiful symbol that is etched with symbolism of what this once great country of America stood for from the beginning.
Well it was a March 6, 2024 when I published that story if didn’t read it you can find out how hypocritical America is being by keeping the statue of liberty up and doing the opposite of what it says. At the below link.

France gifted the United States the Statue of Liberty—a grand gesture of friendship and a powerful symbol of freedom. She was meant to stand as a beacon for the world, welcoming those seeking refuge and promising the ideals of democracy. How even on the statue of liberty America acknowledged its past wasn’t perfect, yet instead of denying it or erasing it. America acknowledged its mistakes and made it right. That is what America stood for. That was what Americans were proud of and why immigrants from around the world risk their and their families’ lives crossing the dangerous oceans in unfit boats for the journey, many parishing in the sea, with maps that weren’t very accurate.
But they came here looking for hope in the new world, the hope the New world promised everyone. That is what lady liberty welcomed– all immigrants’ freedom, shelter, food, new life as she held her torch lighting the way to hope for all the immigrants coming to the new world. Standing on liberty island with broken chains and shackles on her feet.

Which represents that America did have slaves but no longer believes in it and it has abolished. Acknowledging we are not perfect but, we are continuing to always improve. Reassuring all newcomers -America is really the land of the free. American calling out the hypocrisy of having the Statue of Liberty yet; America doesn’t represent those principals, ideology and promises anymore.
Now a French leader has said that the U.S. doesn’t deserve her anymore. France gave the United States the Statue of Liberty as a gift almost 140 years ago. It was a beautiful act of friendship and a strong sign of freedom. To the rest of the world, Lady Liberty was supposed to be a shining example of freedom, open to everyone who needed a safe place to stay. Anyone escaping tyranny, oppression, wanting religious freedom But over the years, and especially now in 2025, that light has faded, throwing a shadow over the very ideas she was meant to stand for.

His words struck a nerve—not just in France, but worldwide. After all, if America no longer upholds the values that Lady Liberty stands for, should she still remain on U.S. soil?”
Raphaël Glucksmann, a member of the European Parliament, publicly called for the statue’s return to France, saying, “Give us back the Statue of Liberty. It was our gift to you. But apparently, you despise her.”

It’s a bold statement, but one that forces a larger question:
Does America still believe in the ideals of liberty, democracy, and justice—or has it abandoned them?
The Lie of a Country

That Used to Help the Victims America has always been proud of being the land of the free and a safe haven for tired people. At Liberty’s base, the words of Emma Lazarus’ poem offered safety to the “tired” and “poor,” people who were looking for a fresh start.
But what does that promise mean in a country that turns its back on people seeking refuge, jails people fleeing violence, and doesn’t let whole groups of people into its borders? In a place where history is being changed, facts are being erased, and people who disagree are being shut down, what does that promise mean?
Things have become even more contradictory during President Trump’s second term. His government has actively worked to erase and change history.
For example, the dayTrump came into office and order all the videos of Jan 6th to be deleted and destroyed. Thankfully this notice and he was sued and in Feb 2025 Judge ordered him to deleting the Jan 6 insurrection footage. He had to be sued in order for a a Judge to rule that it was unconstitutional and forced him to stop deleting Jan 6 insurrection footage.

President says he is cutting funding for educational programs that dare to tell America’s full story. Specifically about the mistreatment of native Americans that were here first, forced slavery, forced prostitution to name a few.
Control over democracy and obedience over truth have been top priorities for Trumps government. The message from Lady Liberty is no longer a promise in this America where power speaks louder than principle. It’s a lie. Glucksmann is right to point out the dishonesty. He and many other people in France are shocked to see Trump’s America aligning itself with authoritarianism and stifling the freedoms it once said it stood for. What he means is that a country that used to fight against tyranny is now choosing to “switch to the side of the tyrants.” This is not only betraying its allies, but also its own past.
The reason this is such a powerful statement until now NO AMERICAN SITTING PRESIDENT HAS EVER BEEN CALLED OR EVEN REFERRED TO A TYRANT BY ANY OF WORLD GOVERNMENT OR FOREIGN DIPLOMATS. Since Trump took office for his 2nd term he has been called this twice: (first) by the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and (2nd) by: Raphaël Glucksmann, a member of the European Parliament.
So Trump has now made an exclusive list. Leaders that were deemed Tyrants by the world throughout history: Adolf Hitler, King Leopold 2nd,Attila the Hun, Genghis Khan, Joseph Stalin, Mao Zedong,Pol Pot and Year 2025 – President Donald Trump
What does the Statue of Liberty stand for now? She is still holding her torch high in the bay of New York with the same words written in the poem of colossus by Emma Lazarrus. American poet in 1883 and it remains on lady liberty to this day: “give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refused of your own teeming shores. Send these, the homeless, tempest- tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
Emma Lazarrus the weather of that poem was an American activist who helped raise the money to make the base for the statue, as the deal made with France was they paid and created the statue and America paid for the base. Where the statue would stand. 140 years ago our forefathers created the ideology, philosophy and meaning of what it was to be an American, then put it writing to ensure that the US government always worked for the people –and to make sure the foundation and ideology they set up for of America remained the same even today.
Yet today in 2025 we have a âś…President and an administration that: A country that locks up kids in cages away from their families at the border?
âś…A government that erases the worst parts of its past and silences its own people who try to educate true history of America .
✅A President who gives pardons to rebels and treasonous thugs, but hates people who want them to be held responsible and do as the law of the land states. The laws that “we the people” voted on.
,âś…He fires people who disagree with him, instead of listening to people hired to advise him.
It’s Trump’s America not the “We the people” America as the Constitution states at the very beginning. Then those of us seem to just be in the way and an inconvenience. When I say the rest of us. Us is defined as: anyone not 100 percent on the Trump train, not Male, not Caucasian, not Heterosexual, not Chauvinistic, not American born, or an immigrant that isn’t a person of color, including any man that believes women should have equal rights to men and or should have rights to choice their reproductive options and choice not the government.
Yet, President Trump continues to bully and abuse our world allies on the world stage, as he further isolates America from our long standing allies. The president is also seemingly bringing America closer and closer to becoming an ally with Russia and North Korea; in which we have had a long history of never being allies with. We haven’t been allies with Russia and Russia has publicly called the US their enemy for decades, even before the cold war due these nations not having democracy, The United States And North Korea are not allies due to several historical and ongoing issues: North Korea insisted on building nuclear weapons, ballistic missiles made the US sanctions and then the international community took America’s lead and condemned North Korea. America has been blamed for that ever since. Diplomatic relations with North Korea have been impossible one on one and the US has relied on 3rd party intermediaries to actually relay any information back and forth. This has happened since as early as 1994 Then the sitting president was 42nd President of the US was Bill Clinton our 39th former former President Jimmy Carter ACTED as a private citizen intermediary helping facilitate the US – North Korea agreed to that framework.
.They aren’t open to communicate with the US or establish any diplomatic relations with the US. Yet, President Trump has been quoted over the years as calling both these leaders good smart leaders and many other positive compliments about the way he admires how they run their government.
Although Russia went from a democratic system to an authoritarian regime under Vladimir Putin taking over. Elections are known as ceremonial; every opponent who has run against him has died publicly or disappeared. Yet, on paper they still have a lot of the original democratic principles from before written in their laws just the actions are the opposite, sound familiar?
People in America still say they believe in freedom, fairness, and justice, but what does the country do that goes against those views so clearly?
A country that doesn’t know who it is.
Is America still worthy of Lady Liberty?
To be honest, France will not get the Statue of Liberty back. UNESCO says she belongs to the United States, and she’s not going anywhere, even though Glucksmann made a very strong call for her to.What matters is that, not whether France can take her back.
That’s not the point, though.Everyone loved Lady Liberty because she stood for democracy, fair, and free ideas. If the United States no longer stands for those ideals, then her being here is an insult to what she was meant to stand for.Signs are only as strong as the truth they represent, in the end.
The Statue of Liberty should be removed on the basis of false advertising.
Not to mention. Or better yet, WE THE PEOPLE need to hold the American government accountable to the standards America was founded, fought wars for and voted to represent. Because in the end, a sign is only as strong as the truth it stands for.
If America has given up on that truth, then maybe it’s not the figure that needs to go, but the lies that do.So, I ask you, the reader: Do you still believe America is the land of liberty? Or has it become the very thing it once claimed to stand against? The very thing that we, the world, decided a tyrant like Adolf Hitler needed to be stopped by all. Besides Lady Liberty has seen America from infancy through the ackwaward teens years and is basically a New Yorker. She will not go without a fight.
