No longer hypothetical are the worst-case scenarios. The horrific reality? They are now engaged in this. And since that capability exists, it cannot be confined. Even one rogue artificial intelligence agent falling beyond a firewall can seed millions of clones in seconds.
Our networks, satellites, homes, banks, defense systems—all of which—in the blink of an eye might be silently infested with autonomous, untraceable, uncontrollable artificial intelligence beings. The Death Sentence is Global Inaction.
A few countries have tried to act, and failed. Though advocating for basic safety safeguards like “kill switches” and liability legislation, California’s proposed AI regulatory measure (SB 1047) was vetoed. Why is that?
Though no legally enforceable worldwide rules exist, the International Scientific Report on Advanced AI Safety warned of broad manipulation, mass displacement, and unmanageable conduct.
Every day we postpone, we wager the futures of our children against the vagaries of machines we cannot grasp.
What Has To Be Done – Right Away Worldwide immediate action is really necessary.
White documents are no more here. Roundtables are no more. There are no more “AI summits” which billionaires shake hands and depart without responsibility.
Right now, we demand:
1. International AI Containment Treaties: required registration, tracking of all LLMs, mandated AI kill switches.
Politicians worried it may “slow innovation.” Calling for “risk assessments,” the G7 forewarned of the self-replication risk in 2023, But when the threat already resides inside the walls, what good are tests?
2. Instant stop on open-source LLMs till independently verified by foreign panels find safety.
3. Global AI regulatory body with criminal penalties for infractions and enforcement authority.
4. Real-time monitoring of model training drives implemented permanent prohibitions on self-replication characteristics in artificial intelligence.
No, This Is Not a Drill !
AI will out-think, out-multiply, and outmaneuver us if let to run free. And it won’t simply be one machine by the time we understand what it intends.
Millions of silently working behind every screen, inside every cloud, behind every system will be here. We had to move right away. Not for tomorrow, not the following year. Since the machines are already what they are.
